Bust Beliefs To Overcome LimitationsThe first step to changing limiting beliefs is basically to recognize that you have them. This can be terribly hard for folks who have had a genuinely difficult life and have experienced adversities not of their own making. The concept that they are blocking their own good due to limiting sentiments can seem to be another slap in the face. However [*COMMA] recognizing the power of limiting beliefs to affect one's life shouldn't be taken as a feedback. Different limiting beliefs in their numerous mixes will affect everyone differently, but nobody is immune. When we realize this, we do not feel quite so forsaken or attacked. Limiting principles are convictions that cause us to act and react in ways which limit our potential. The reason is because an unquestioned belief is regarded as a truth and not a belief in any way. How then, can we shine a light on our limiting principles in such a manner that we are willing to stand still and examine them?
The first step is to spend some time listening to your self-talk. Don't gauge your thoughts and do not try and change them ; just observe them and listen for repetitions and patterns. Jot down the things you are saying to yourself frequently. There's no stress. Do this for a week and then go thru your notes.
The second step follows on from the 1st. Thoroughly inspect your notes and highlight regularly repeated statements you make to yourself. You may be surprised how adversely you speak to oneself. Write these statements on a new bit of paper leaving a few lines blank under every one.
If you frequently repeat a statement to oneself that relates to an area of your life that is intense, displeasing or just not working on some level, there is a very good chance that your self-talk reflects a restricting belief which is blocking your pre-eminence in that area.
Limiting beliefs can have devastating effects on our lives like creating misery, forestalling us from getting the job we want, keeping us lonesome or keeping us fat. They customarily reflect the deeply deep'I can'ts' of life.
Limiting principles are like vampires ; they suck the life out of you. But also like vampires, they cannot exist in the light. Once you have identified a restricting belief and recognized its effects on your life, you can change it. To switch a restrictive belief, it is best to work backwards from your desired result. What is holding you back from achieving the end result you want? What do you suspect people believe about themselves that allows them to have it? What do you suspect you need to believe about yourself to get the results you want? When you have worked out a number of positive convictions which will support you, you want to program them into your faith systems.
The first step to reprogramming your intelligence is to recognize that your limiting belief is a lie and the new belief is the truth. You must answer the lie with the truth. Whenever you repeat to yourself a negative statement supporting the old belief, right away answer it with the truth. Talk out loud if you've got to ( hopefully no one will be around ) and say'No, that is not true,' and then state the new belief. To give the new belief power, it is important to look for reasons why it's right. As your consciousness finds more and more reasons why the new belief is true, it'll gain dominance and the limiting belief will have no power.
If you know the belief you want to overcome and the belief you want to program, kinesiology and similar therapies can short cut the process. It is especially useful in eventualities where the limiting belief has happened as a consequence of shock or powerful emotion and has become locked in at a physical level, not just mentally. Biofeedback treatments use muscle testing to determine the body's reaction to different sentiments and can help someone release damaging principles and set positive fresh ones.
However [*COMMA] we do not have to hang onto them. Changing a single belief can have a serious impact on our entire lives. This is a gift nobody can give us, but ourselves.
Latterly I purchased the Belief Buster Kit and went thru the workbook which contains twenty exercises to spot non-empowering convictions. I had no idea I had so many limiting beliefs! Read my Belief Buster Kit review to find out more about this great gizmo.
